2007 North Platte Festival Review

05/04/2007 09:16:20 / happy

I feel compelled to write a little something about the festival we attended last weekend. It was the 7th annual bluegrass festival in North Platte, Nebraska. Performers included: Tim Graves, The Rarely Herd, The Dillards, The Abrams Brothers & Heather Berry & Dominion Grass and more. All of these folks put on great shows! I just love the whole BG festival atmosphere!! I want to tell everyone about 2 bands that really impressed me and both are perhaps lesser known. First, a group called "Highplains Tradition" out of Denver, CO just blew me away with their instrumental abilty and their harmonies were great! Second, a little band out of Lyons, CO called "Little Liza Jane" placed first in the showcase competition. Their harmonies were absolutely fantastic! They were clearly the best in the contest! Please folks if you ever have a chance to hear either of these bands take the time to do so. Both have web sites so you can research their schedules.

Let the festival season begin!!

There is nothing in this world like sitting outside on a beautiful day listening to some live bluegrass music!!  I'm going to Denton, NC to Doyle Lawson's festival next Friday.  My favorites in the world will be there--Doyle Lawson and Larry Sparks!!  I'm so excited!!  I'll tell you all about it!!
