during the 1970s, Iran is viewed from Europe, with some suspicion, the
French Socialist Party is committed early on alongside the Iranian
opposition. Privileged witness of its responsibilities within the
Socialist Party, Alain Chenal offers a personal look at a decade of
turbulent history of Iran.
Imperial Iran of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, karen millen saleFrancophile
and French emperor, was a close partner of France after the war,
including the fact that the Iranian elite were often studied in France.
In the early 1970s, the French Socialists, like the majority of the
left, heavily involved in the critique of dictatorial and authoritarian
regime of the Shah, symbolized by its intelligence service, Savak.
The Iranian opposition wins a first victory, with the cancellation of
the arrival of President Pompidou in Persepolis for the 2500th
anniversary of the Iranian monarchy in October 1971, replaced by
Chaban-Delmas. It then multiplies the operations of awareness of the
French population to the reality of the regime, at a time when the West
presents mainly as an island of stability and success in the region. And
politicians from left boycotting visits by Shah and other dignitaries
of the regime.
Their commitment is especially notable in the support for Iranian
dissidents fled to France, often abused by police and threatened with
expulsion and therefore, almost certainly, death to their return.karen millen dresses
Such tragedies are avoided thanks to the mobilization of intellectuals
and lawyers close to the Socialist Party.
It receives regular Democratic opponents in Paris and introduced at
meetings of the Socialist International. It also organizes a meeting
between Karim Sanjabi National Front of Iran and Khomeini, then in exile
in Paris in 1978, to prepare for the future with serenity. This will
become the first foreign minister of the Islamic Republic a few months
later.
Initial support of the revolution underway in early 1979, the French
Socialists are quickly overwhelmed their friends in the political field
by the religious leaders, who take advantage of the absence of political
parties. In 1980, the West supported the invasion of Iran by the
"secular" Saddam Hussein, against the "regime of the mullahs." The
Socialist Party, he, denounce this operation which can only strengthen
the regime and its components unite against a common enemy.
The regime is increasing and becoming more radical, in fact, 12 June
1981, Iranian President Banisadr was deposed and forced into hiding
before exfiltrate to France on July 29 where he received asylum in the
new socialist government.
The Socialist Party is now in power. karen millenThe
government is slowly moving away from Iran to be closer to Iraq with in
1983, the supply to Iraq of the couple Super Etendard-Exocet. Less than
ten years later, France will participate in Operation Desert Storm.
