I've played bluegrass and gospel music for about 16 years. Around the age of 12 or so, I began playing bass with my Grandparents' gospel group, The Sounds of Glory. Half-way through high school, myself and a few friends formed a regionally successful traditional bluegrass band called the Virginia Mountain Boys. We made one recording called Cumberland Tradition that did very well for us locally. In early 2000, I was fortunate to help form a contemporary bluegrass band called Drivin' Tyme. We also made one recording and enjoyed regional success for about three years or so. Since that time, I've been involved in countless recording sessions on guitar, bass, vocals, and, for some reason, banjo! Most of my session work has been vocals though. I own my own home recording studio where local musicians and friends come to do overdubs, demos, or just goof around. We have a good time at whatever we do. I also play in a couple bands; Daniel Boner and Daysight and Alex Hibbitts and Appalachian Reign. Occassionally I fill in on guitar with a band called Next Best Thing. I write as much as I can when I can find the time. Some of my songs have been recorded by the Mark Newton Band, Sammy Shelor and Linda Lay, Alecia Nugent's banjoist Thomas Wywrot, and others. |
