Anything Bluegrass and especially Gospel. Also listen to contemporary Christian music. Steven Curtis Chapman is my favorite singer/songwriter. Lives what he writes and sings about.

Carl was born into a musical family. The tradition of music has spanned hundreds of years in Carl's family. His great-grandaddy played a different kind of tune than what Carl plays today, but it still had that heart and soul which is called Bluegrass today. Carl began singing at age 3, and wrote his first song at ten years old. By age thirteen Carl learned the Double Bass and would go on to learn guitar, mandolin, and dobro. Though his vocals came naturally; it was his mama who taught him how to sing harmony and Carl developed his vocal stylings over the years being influenced by everyone from Bill Monroe to Don Williams to Def Leppard and beyond. Carl played with family groups throughout the southeast and in the north. The Bluegrass Harmoneers lasted for over 20 years in one form or another. After a short tour in Europe, Carl came back to the US with a different outlook on life. He came back to his roots, still looking for a certain sound. In early 2004, Carl's songwriting became more contemporary and is what he had been looking for in the way of style. "All the music over the years before flowed into me, to be the music that flows from me today!", he said in a recent interview. He dubbed this sound, Positive Bluegrass, being mostly Gospel and Inspirational there are a few secular songs thrown in there, but all with positive lyrics to lift up the listener. It is no longer the High Lonesome sound that Carl sings, but the High Sound! Carl decided to use the gifts that God had given him and share them with the world. The songs that God had been giving him, showed the true side of our Father, as a real person, loving, caring and wanting us to love Him. Carl formed: (Carl Towns & The Remnant) to share this message with people. Vist the web site for more information.
