I truly believe that it is the ultimate disrespect to a band to advertise an event and have the band's name wrong, or to introduce them as something other than what they are called. That ticks me off about as quick as anything. So, needless to say, right now I'm pretty well ticked. I don't understand what is so hard about getting the name right. And I never will. If you don't know, ASK!!!! Don't just make up a name!!!!!!! That is just the rudest thing. I don't know, maybe everybody else doesn't take it as personally as I do, but that just really, really, really bothers me. I'm sure it doesn't mean a thing to the people saying or printing it and that they don't do it on purpose, but most groups spend quite a bit of time (or should) coming up with a name and deciding how they want their group represented. And that, to me, is just a slap in the face. Especially when you have business cards, flyers, websites, or other readily available information with the band's name clearly stated. I just don't get it. I picked up our local newspaper today and saw that we are now "Jody Elmore, Skyline West Band" and that we play "bluegrass country dance music." Gee, I don't remember naming the group that???? And I don't recall ever playing any "country dance music"?????? Oh well, what can you do, right? Anybody feel my pain?
