Brian Wallen isn't your average teenager. He picked up the guitar at age 10, an interest perfectly natural for a young child. But it's when he started picking up everything else that it became clear that he wasn't exactly average. Brian plays 9 instruments, and says he gives all the credit to the Lord for what he's able to do.

Mr. Wallen has achieved the most notoriety for his fiddle and guitar work, hailing comments from more than a few that he's "the next Tony Rice". But it doesn't stop there; Brian isn't just an instrumentalist; he's also a singer (lead, baritone, bass and "a limited amount of tenor!"), songwriter, and record producer. Brian's junior effort, Homegrown, is made up of traditional folk tunes. His last release, Sawmill Creek, features 14 bluegrass and gospel tracks, 7 of which were written or co-written by Brian. The 7 other selections are songs that every bluegrass lover should know, starting and ending with eclectically arranged versions of two favorite tunes. He released a CD of Christmas selections called "Tidings of Great Joy" in December of '07, and he's working on his next project.

Richmond Indiana: Images of Home
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------
Hi friends: I just wanted to pass along to you a project that myself and photographer Jim Hair are involved in. In Jim's words...
___________________________________________________________________________ _________________
"This project as a proposal for a series of magazine articles that I am sending out to let everyone else (in America) know what a great place Richmond [Indiana] is, and created this 'slide show' to accompany it...I will have three versions on the one disc; "Richmond Images", "Richmond Portraits", and a combined four minute version. I am just learning how to do this, so it will be the week of January 21. If you want to send a check ($10 including tax) I will mail it as soon as I get the discs burned.
I will also have Brian Wallen's CD [Sawmill Creek] available ($10). He is actually 15, from Milton [Indiana],and can make music from anything he touches. He has created a CD of bluegrass and gospel music that is incredible. I asked him for four minutes of music to accompany the video and he composed and recorded the music and emailed it to me the next day. I know that someday soon we will be saying "yeah, I knew him when he just lived down the road in Milton." He has more of his music posted at http://www.youtube.com/bkwallenmusic."

Jim and I believe that Richmond has a great deal of potentiality; we're optimistic that this is one of the steps to realizing it to the fullest degree. Feel free to share the video with your friends; email it, put it on your own webpage as you please. Please watch the video at the link below.
Jim's webpage is http://www.jimhair.com, and his email is jim@richmondartworks.com. Email Jim or myself if you are interested in the DVD or the CD.
