The Grubb Family group is a Christian family band consisting of the parents, John and Shawn Grubb and their children: Christina, Melody, Faith, John, James, Abigail, and Joshua. Playing mainly bluegrass and gospel music, they also enjoy performing country and dance music as well for weddings and special events. They hope the tunes they sing bring others closer to His peace and joy.
The family thoroughly enjoys playing music together. It has been a dream come true for John Grubb since playing professionally and doing sound is what he’s done all his life!
Since teaching himself to play the guitar at age sixteen and some guitar lessons, he has competed in the New Folk Songwriters’ Competition at Kerrville Folk Festival, as well as played opening acts for Steve Fromholz, B Stevenson, John Vandiver, Shake Russel, Dana Cooper, Odetta, and Bill & Bonnie Herne. He has also performed with local Texas singers/songwriters such as Randal Dean, Brad & Marion Hill, Marsha Webb, Rita Ellenburg, and George Merritt, among others. He continues to be challenged and loves pickin' a tune out on his guitar, banjo, mandolin or bass.
Shawn keeps the band's rythym in tact with her guitar. Her crystal clear voice resounds the lead and harmony vocals in many of their songs, and adds professionalism to them. She is also a very good tin whistle and flute player. She delights in reading good books, writing what the Lord inspires her to, learning about raising grass-fed animals, gardening, homeschooling and raising her children in the way they should go, learning how better to serve her husband and serve Christ. |
