Chris's Family is from Vanceburg, and Florence Kentucky. He's been playing
and singing for 24 yrs. He started playing guitar in church, and later
developed a passion for bluegrass. He plays guitar, banjo, mandolin and
bass.
Recently he finished a 8 year membership with the band Harbourtown from
Northern Ohio. There, he further honed his singing skills. His biggest
influences are Doyle Lawson, J.D. Crowe, and The Bluegrass Cardinals. He
enjoys spending time with his kids, Sherri, Shelbi, Kyle, Emma, and his
wife, April. They reside in Tiffin, Ohio.
Danny hails from Whitesburg, Kentucky and now resides in Northwest Ohio. He
was raised on Bluegrass and old time country. He started out on guitar and
only started playing mandolin with his brothers since no one in the
band knew how to play mandolin. He's played country music most of the time
and his band won best country band in Ohio at the Tru-Value country showdown
in 1994. They were also the opening act for many of the top country artists
today and recorded in Nashville but the band was never picked up by a label.
His heart was always in Bluegrass and so now it's back on mandolin and
vocals with Straightfork, full of fire and ready to entertain you.
Randy grew up in a family who enjoyed bluegrass. As a kid, he listened to
the sounds of Flatt & Scruggs, which influenced him to learn the banjo. He's
been playing since 14. He credits his influences to J.D. Crowe, Sammy
Shelor, and Terry Baucom. All of these styles are very evident in his
playing. His rich baritone vocals round out the trio harmonies in
Straightfork's sound. Randy, wife Vanessa, and son Wyatt make their home in
Norwalk, Ohio.
Brad Nelson has been playing music for 24 years. He started singing and
playing electric guitar with his father’s country band “New Breed” when he
was 15, later moving to the steel guitar for the “Luck of the Draw” country
band. He started playing bluegrass guitar and bass in 1997. His biggest
influences have been Ronnie Bowman, Randy Graham and Ernie Thacker. Brad
lives in Greenwich Ohio with his wife Annette and 2 daughters Hollie and
Amber. They enjoy camping with their dogs whether the sun shines or not!!!
