Southern Star Bluegrass was formed in 1977 by Dan Smith and Rick Hinson who managed and operated the band until passing the torch to Larry Jackson Jr. and Royce Burt. Since their formation, Southern Star has performed at bluegrass festivals and bluegrass shows throughout the southeastern United States . In addition to their public performances, Southern Star performs on a regular basis at private parties, company Bar-B-Q's and church functions and services. Southern Star Bluegrass has had the privilege of performing on shows with many Country and Bluegrass Stars such as JIM STAFFORD, BIRDIE HIGGINS, BILL MONROE, JIM AND JESSIE McREYNOLDS, THE WHITES, WILMA LEE COOPER, CONNIE SMITH, JEANNIE PRUITT, JIMMY C. NEWMAN and LITTLE JIMMY DICKENS to name a few. |
