About me: Norman Conservation Club 12157 W. Co. Rd. 450 N. Norman, Indiana The Norman Conservation Club was founded in 1950 by Marshall Norman, James "Buck" Cummings and others The Club started out as a place for local men to meet, fish and socialize. In about 1955 a shooting range was started and actively used until about 2003, In 1994 a camp grounds was established and continues today. In 1990 The Conservation Club begin hosting Bluegrass music events and currently hold a monthly Jamboree on the third Sunday of the month from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. A Spring and Fall three day festival are held each year. The Jamboree is free and the public is invited. The kitchen will serve homemade soups, sandwiches, sides and desserts. Norman Conservation Club has its own House band known as "Shirley and Friends" or "Norman Station" It has also been known as "The Fishers" Members of the Bluegrass Band are: Shirley Wininger - Fiddle - Fred Norman - Guitar - Dwight Fisher - Guitar - Frank Fisher - Banjo - Judy Beal - Bass - Over the years the Conservation Club has developed into a very beautiful camp grounds with shade filled camp sites and fully stocked lake, It is a very quiet relaxing place to bring your family to camp and fish. A club house with stage and pavilion with stage now stand on the site and a playground is available for children. Yearly memberships are $10.00, Camp sites are available by the day or camp sites may be rented for campers by the year. You do not need to be a member to attend the Bluegrass events. If we are having a Jamboree or Festival our Kitchen will be open. If you come any other time of the month The 58 Cafe is just a hop skip and jump from us on St. Rd. 58 in Kurtz and serves up the best food in the area and if you leave hungry its your own fault. Dont forget to mention you seen us on Myspace

NSCC FALL BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL Norman – The Norman Station Conservation Club presents the best of Indiana Bluegrass at its annual outdoor Fall Bluegrass Festival Friday, September 18 through Sunday the 20th. Twenty-four bands will be performing over the 3-day weekend from 4-10 pm Friday and 11 am -9 pm Saturday. Church service with David Fisher begins at 11 am Sunday followed by Bluegrass Gospel from 12-4 pm. The event is open and free to the public. Campsites with electric and water are available on the club’s 3-acre lake for $10/day. Call 812-793-2241 or 812-869-0850 for reservation. For early camping arrivals & others, a pitch-in Bean Supper will be held at the main shelter house at 6 pm on Thursday, Sept. 17th. Food and beverages will be available for the duration of the festival. Bring lawn chairs, your family & friends and plan on a great weekend. The club is located 4½ miles north of Hwy 50 from the Leesville/Ft. Ritner turn-off (Norman Road or 1250W) then 1/10 mile east on 45N OR ¾ mile south of Hwy 58 at Norman Station stop sign then 1/10 mile east on 450N. Watch for signs.
